Rostraver Christmas Celebration
Rostraver Christmas Celebration is presented by the Greater Rostraver Chamber of Commerce and the Rostraver Lions Club.
The event begins will begin with a parade featuring area fire and rescue departments, mascots, local organizations and groups, and of course Santa!
The festivities for the evening include a visit with Santa Claus, goody bags for the children, with treats and items provided by members of the GRC, tree lighting, bonfire, hot chocolate, cookies, and more! The U.S. Marine Corps Reserves is on hand to conduct their annual Toys for Tots campaign as well.
This annual holiday tradition offers fun for the entire family!
The 2011 Celebration
Santa arrived in Rostraver Township on Sunday, November 20th. This annual event is sponsored by the GRC and Rostraver Twp. Lions Club, with help from many contributors and volunteers. The event began with a parade led by US Marine Corps Reserve members, Lions and Leo Club members, BVA Interact Club student elves, Buzz the Beegraphix Bee, Lulu the Clown, the West Newton Beauty Queens, Rostraver Township Police Officers and township firefighters from Rostraver Central and Collinsburg.
The rainy evening didn't keep the children and parents away. Santa visited with over 150 children and the elves distributed goody bags to each of them. The large crowd enjoyed donuts, coffee, hot chocolate and cookies. Dunkin Donuts generously donated Munchkin donuts along with coffee. Bill's Golfland supplied gallons of hot chocolate and The Sweet Spot Bakery donated a variety of cookie trays. Howard Hanna Simon Real Estate kept the children busy at their craft table where they made gingerbread ornaments. The BVA Marching Band under the direction of Mark Surovchak provided the musical entertainment with a selection of Christmas carols. Lulu the Clown entertained the children with her balloon creations and Naomi and Sasha from Douglas Education Center provided face painting. The US Marine Corps Reserves conducted their annual Toys for Tots collection and filled their box with donations.
