Where should you go to find the latest bestselling book? Audiotapes to listen to when you have a
long drive ahead? A place that will introduce your child to the entertainment and education that
books provide? The answer is the Rostraver Public Library.

In addition to books for circulation, reference books and periodicals, the library also has available video tapes, audio tapes, and large print books. Inter-Library Loan allows the patron to borrow materials not available in our local library. Using a PA ACCESS card available to local residents allows patrons to borrow items from any library in PA participating in the ACCESS program. The library is a member of the Westmoreland County Library System.  Services available to the public includes a copier, FAX, and computers, including the Internet!

The Library is well known for the excellent services it provides to young people and children. Past programs include Summer Reading Program and Story Time for preschoolers. Take advantage of one of the best kept secrets in our community!

VOLUNTEERS
Volunteers are the backbone of each library.  We are fortunate with our large active staff, but more people are always welcome to help us serve our patrons better. Please call the library if you would like to donate a few hours of your time each month.

LIBRARY CARDS
Residents of Rostraver Township and Sutersville may obtain a free PA ACCESS card at the library.  This card entitles the patron to use any public library in Pennsylvania for free. Lost card replacements cost $1.00. Cards must be renewed during June of each year.

RULES FOR BORROWING MATERIALS
All books and books-on-tape are loaned for two weeks. Magazines are loaned out for a two week period. Fines for late books are $.10/day per book. Video rental is $.50 for four days.

LARGE PRINT AND AUDIO
Rostraver Library has a large collection of large print books and books on tape for our patrons.

ROOMS
A Reference Room and a Rostraver Township - Westmoreland County - Pennsylvania Room
are available for your genealogical research.

STORY TIME
The library's storytime is open to children from ages 3 to 5 years old and includes a song, a story, and a craft. Classes are limited to 15 per session and you must register your child.

SUMMER ACTIVITIES
Summer activities for the children are held for four weeks during the summer months.  There is no registration for these programs.

SUMMER READING PROGRAM
During the summer the Friends of the Library, along with local businesses, sponsor a reading program for children in the elementary school.  A party is held at the close of the program where prizes and awards are given.

CHILDREN'S ACTIVITIES
Special activities are planned each year to encourage the youth to become more involved in the library, such as:

GIVE THE GIFT OF READING
REMEMBRANCES
A nice way to remember or honor a loved one is by purchasing one of the following types of books:

MEMORIALS $25.00
A card is sent to the family of the deceased notifying them of the purchase and the donor.

NEW BABY BOOKS $15.00
A child's book is used to honor the birth of a new baby. A card is sent to the parents notifying them of the purchase and the donor.

BIRTHDAY BOOKS $5.00
These are available to help the child celebrate their birthday. The honored child gets to borrow the book first.

FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY
This group helps promote the library and sponsors fund raising events to support the library. They are always looking for new members to help. If you are interested in joining the Friends please call the library for more information.
