GRC Recognition Dinner
A new twist on an old tradition.

The 35th year of special recognition by the Greater Rostraver Chamber of Commerce was held at the Willow Room in Rostraver Twp on April 9, 2010. An elegant setting, superb dinner and live entertainment by Haywood and Friends were enjoyed by nearly 100 in attendance. The event began with a beautiful DVD tribute to the honorees. It was a beautiful night to remember and express our gratitude to such pillars of the community.

The Greater Rostraver Chamber stepped into a new direction last year by combining their Founders Day Dinner with additional recognition of a business or organization that is actively contributing to their surrounding communities. The first Founders Day Dinner was held in 1975. Giving special recognition to the men or women who contributed their time, money and talent to build a stronger Chamber and support the surrounding communities had become a time honored tradition. In 2009, we chose to add an additional element of recognition by adding a business or organization.

The individual selected for recognition this year was Helen Estok. Helen became involved shortly after the Rostraver Business Association was formed. She served as the historian for the organization and has remained very active when the RBA formed into the Rostraver Chamber. Speaking with great pride in reference to their mother, Marcy and Mary Ann Estok referred to Helen as an always giving person. Always there and helping everyone, Helen is an individual that warrants great recognition for her involvement through the years. The Master of Ceremonies, GRC President Ron Kesten, presented a beautiful scroll plaque to Helen designating her as the Honoree of the dinner.

The selection of a business was with the criteria of outstanding community support, involvement and leadership. The business honoree was Bill’s Golfland and Restaurant. Bill’s is a business that has evolved into a true landmark in Rostraver Township and well known throughout the valley. Bill’s has consistently donated their time and money for a variety of projects and functions of the chamber, most notably the August Funfest at Cedar Creek Park and the annual Light up night for Rostraver. Very much a family business, Bill’s has become a favorite meeting spot for people of all ages. Accepting the plaque were William Ruozzi Jr and Susan Fronzaglio, son and daughter of founder William Ruozzi Sr.

Thank you and special recognition to the following: Ron Kesten, GRC President for serving as Master of Ceremonies. Tom Mimidis, GRC Executive Board for the invocation and to State Representative Ted Harhai for leading the Pledge of Allegiance. Pat Alberts, Mon Valley Hospital and GRC Executive Board and to his assistant Maureen Dimitroff for the invitations. Chris Radziwon of BeeGraphix for engraving and discounting the award plaques. Don Ivill of General Industries for offering several equipment enhancements at the Willow Room for no additional charge. Thanks you to Bob Ferguson of Gene and Boots for the candy favors. A very special thank you to the GRC director Gina Lynn for going above and beyond with her assistance and the final presentation of the DVD Tribute. Last and certainly not least, thank you to Rachel Willson, GRC Executive Board and committee member. Everyone’s help was greatly appreciated and definitely contributed to a wonderful evening.

Respectfully submitted,
