Belle Vernon Area School District
Belle Vernon Area School District, in southwestern Pennsylvania, lies midway between Pittsburgh on the north, Uniontown to the south, Washington to the west, and Greensburg to the east. Rostraver Township, Belle Vernon Borough, North Belle Vernon, Fayette City, and Washington Township are the municipalities included in the 42.2 square mile district area. Approximately 20,000 people make their home here. The school population is approximatly 3,000 students for the district.
The professional staff of the district consists of 165 faculty members, 11 administrators, six guidance counselors, a school psychologist, and three nurses, and many maintenance, clerical, dining, security, transportation, and custodial staff. Eighty nine members of the professional staff hold advanced degrees. Staff members continue to enhance their knowledge and abilities by attending seminars and workshops, and by devoting sabbatical leaves to education and travel. Each building has its own cafeteria with on-site meals served daily.
The two elementary schools, two middle schools, and the high school have recently been enlarged and renovated to provide for the ever changing needs of the growing district. The administration building is located between Rostraver Middle and Elementary schools.
A field house adjacent to the high-school is well equipped with weight and locker rooms, rehabilitation and conditioning equipment. The stadium is located next to Rostraver Middle School. Its improvements include new lighting, scoreboard, press box, snack facilities, and restrooms. The football team holds several titles. Other sport teams include swimming, baseball, softball, volleyball, soccer, basketball, wrestling, golf, track, cheerleading, majorettes, and drill team. We have one of the finest marching bands in our area. Band and choir programs are available in the middle and high schools.

Douglas Education Center’s campus is conveniently located in the Mid-Mon Valley and offers students a wide range of educational choices in the business, medical, arts and cosmetology fields. Douglas Education Center, established in 1904, has evolved through years of educational experience and knowledge. The educational programs at Douglas are designed toward meeting the needs of its students by developing professionalism and leadership as well as technical, creative, and communication skills.

Mon Valley Education Center
The Mon Valley Education Center has been at its present location off Route 51 at 1181 Fells Church Road Rostraver, PA for since 1990. The center includes traditional classrooms, a distance learning classroom, a computer laboratory, offices, and a student lounge. Day, evening, and Saturday classes are held at the center. Courses offered include, but are not limited to, the areas of accounting, allied health, business, computers, economics, English, history, mathematics, music, philosophy, psychology, sociology, and communication.
As a convenience to students, counseling, advising, and financial aid services are also available. In addition, students may pay tuition and fees and purchase textbooks at the center during scheduled times.
